Upgrading Xbox HD - Does replacement have to be WD?

Afternoon All

Following on from a previous thread about upgrading my xbox HD to a 500Gb drive I picked up a cheap Samsung 500GB HD.

I've picked up a copy of HDD Hacker and after doing some digging [yes I know I've done this the wrong way round!], it mentions that it is only compatible with Western Digital drives.

Is anyone using a drive other than a Western Digital, and if you are can you point me in the direction of a decent tutorial please?

Unfortunately by the time I got your message I'd already hit the road and taken it back.

But when I connected it to my jtagged xbox I went into the Memory / Storage settings on the dash and it formatted the drive, no problem - 460GB of space to play with

quick nooby question guy's can this be done for non JTagged xbox's?

No on non-jtagged machine.

You can use HDDHackr to use drives upto 250gb though.
