What Herbs/Spices do you use?

Lately I've been looking for a spice rack to empty my food cupboard of the 20+ jars of herbs and spices that are filling it up. After spending a while looking myself though and tasking someone else to get me one we both came up blank. It seems to me that the majority of spice racks out there only hold about 10 jars maximum and seem to be more of a decorative item than a practical storage utility.

This got me to thinking that perhaps most people just don't use many herbs and spices in their cooking. To find out I present to you this poll.

(I have found a spice rack now by the way, custom made by an ebay seller and designed to hold 36 jars so maybe now I can get a few that I've needed but not had space for.)

i've got a rack that holds 20, but i've still got a tub holding more in my cupboard. I probably only use half of them on some sort of regular basis, but you never know when you might need one

As far as dried ones go I use oregano, naga chillis, chilli powder, birds eye chillis, chilli flakes and mixed Italian herbs. I have a basil plant and also grow some chillis. If I need anything else I will try and source it fresh.

I have 4 "swartz" type racks fastened to my kitchen wall. It had numerous spices and herbs from the swartz label. Most were well out of date by about 10 years LMAO. But they were used for a decorative point of view. Since the ex-wife left i have removed all the jars as they were manky looking and i will begin to stock up on the ones i use the most

I have two cuboards in the house dedicated to indian cooking as i love it and there full to the brim with spices .
I also make up my own masala pastes and spice mixes for curries and i do alot of base gravies for the start of a curry .

i have lots of spices as well as using fresh when i have the time to get them. Im sure your also missing a few that i use to but would have to go looksie.
Ive been looking at spice racks as well but have drawn a blank to the one ill need. Going to hold out till i find the perfect one.

I have a nice indian grocery shop near me they have everything i love going in there alladins cave.
Loads of fresh herbs aswell

As well as a few traditional ones in the list, I found one called asafetida last year.
My lad doesn't like the texture of onions and I found this herb once cooked, gives a similar smell and taste to onions with a hint of garlic. Just as good for him as well.

It's right strong smelling in it's raw state mind, but you don't need much to use when cooking.

I have asafetida use it in tikka masala,s only a very small container but paks a punch.

I prefer to use fresh ingredients, but when thats no an option I own/use about 80% of that list.

Got me a 20 slot one from John Lewis a while back, but agree - I had the same problem.

Custom one would be best, as there's a few in there I never use - including celery salt, I mean, what is that shit?
However there's a few not included (chilli flake, garam masala, cajun & paprika) I use all the time, so there clutter the space around it.

I use quite a few Perfect Shakes by Schartz. They are a bit of a cheat but they are good.

What do you use celery salt for Hippie?

Can't say I've ever used garlic powder, is it just a convenience item to use rather than fresh or is there another reason for using it?

I'd like to try lime leaves, not sure what to use them for though. Mace as well, notice nobody picked that one. I'd also like to try saffron but can never justify the cost.

Just realised that Picante Pimenton is actually smoked paprika, should have paid more attention to the poll options.

I use the celery and garlic salts in my Southern Fried mix m8
Tried a few Italian recipes that said to use them aswell but they didn't taste right to me so I tend to use fresh for those recipes.
