Nope, if you're riding a vehicle that puts you at greater risk then you need to take more precautions... We all know that's not how it works with bike enthusiasts though.

I really have no idea what the fuck you banging your gums about. You are obviously not a biker so why the hell are you commenting in the motorbike section?? If you're bored, ask Rap to start a decoupage or crochet forum for you and the other girls.

Right, as a technophobe, I'm off to the iPod section to post some diatribe. Seems to be all the rage around here!

I know, unfortunately you can't set yourself to ignore though so you'll have to try to learn not to read what you post.

    Cut the crap !

Now down to business ! I can't understand why more women don't have motorbikes.
Parking would be a hell of a lot easier for them and no nasty reverse gear to give them grief on most bikes.

I tell this missus every day the same thing but she's having none of it. She says it's far easier to bounce of walls/hedges/other cars when driving. Also, she would never be able to apply make-up on the bike.

I think we can proibably that there are terrible drivers and terrible riders. To generalise would be foolish.

Of course that really is the case but, in general, cyclists and bikers must have absolute road awareness at all times as the consequences are far too great. I ride a pushbike and a motorcycle but drive 95% of the time and there is little doubt that the cycling makes me a better driver. Also, I see the lack of attention that a huge proportion of car drivers show on a reqular basis. Take a look at the link below, it is interesting.

However,I will say that in my younger days I did once take a turn on a Zanusi 1600, loaded up with a massive 13.5 Tog eiderdown!
When that bad boy hit full rev's it didn't half give me a hell of a tank slapper... but somehow I just managed to hang on and ride it out!

... Although I must confess I did need a fresh pair of pants afterwards!
Lol well thats a different subject altogether!

I think its fair to say that yes, of course there alot of bad drivers AND bad riders, but for me personally riding a bike has made me a much more considerate and safe driver. How many people hand on heart check over their right shoulder before changing lanes/overtaking another vehicle? I do, and ill bet the majority of bikers out there do (in their car and on their bike), because if i had a pound for every time someone hasnt checked and pulled on me i wouldnt be sat in a desert right now!!

And in all honesty, yes bikes are cool and loud and thats part of the appeal i suppose, but really its all about how you feel when your riding it, looking cool isnt important because its just you and your bike.
And that sounds cheesy as fuck! Sorry!

    +1

Every person I know that rides bikes says how its helped them be a better driver as you learn to be far more observant of whats around you.

Thats not to say all car drivers are worse, just that a car driver learning to ride a bike will usually benefit from the experience.
