where can i get a hpi check on a motorbike and what places do you use..

the phone text ones dont do a finance check...and thats the one i do want lol

i am gutted now, i been after this for a couple of weeks and was so looking forward to getting it..

just to let folks know its in southampton and is being sold by a young lady named rebecca..

i got the agreement Number, will the finance company tell me anything if i phone them..??

afraid not m8 - data protection act and all that.
tell her that you will buy it if the finance is cleared and she provides proof that it is cleared (letter from finance company saying that nothing is owing on the bike)

ok i have phoned and told her i will still buy it if the finance is cleared and i get to see the letter from the finance company, how long after she pays will it show as clear so i can do another hpi check.

sorry if i am becoming a pain lol.

HPI checks are notoriously slow m8, they can take days sometimes weeks to show up - best thing is to have cash with you, phone finance company yourself and use speakerphone, she then gives all details and explains that she wants confirmation that all finance is cleared also have said confirmation faxed to you (work fax number or whatever)

If you speak to the finance company, they may say they have no interest in the bike. I've had this before, car/plant equipment we were buying was flagged by hpi with outstanding finance quick call to them and they confirmed they had no interest along with written confirmation.
I used to do HPI checks for the caterpillar dealer I used to work for.

she admitted to owing more on the bike than i was buying it for m8.......

now says she will pay it off but if its that easy then why didnt she do that 1st knowing someone would check before parting with a few grand +..

perhaps because most people are stupid and dont check - i bet she was either looking to pocket the money and carry on paying the finance or pocket the money and cancel the finance payments - leaving the new 'owner' out to dry in the process

bit of news folks..

i had a phone call today and the owner said she had paid it and emailed me over a copy of the fax she requested from the finance company..

she said that the letter will arrive in a few days and that funds did not show as cleared on here statement as it was to early.

I just thought "go on have a go" so i rang the finance company and they told me that a
transaction was pending and waiting for funds to clear on that account and that it was to clear the full amount of the account and not just part of or outstanding amounts.

i couldnt believe they told me that but hey ho i was happy, so i am going to call them back on tues to check again lol, i used the tel number i got from the HPI people so it was a genuine one

i am being as carefull as i can now but all may me good in the end.
