Out of curiousity, can you mix and match between soldering three diodes for the Jtag, and then use the pinheaders for the nand to save having the buy another Jtag QSB please?

yep, use 3 diodes (xenon only) or 2 and the link on all the others.

Thanks mate. I've acquired another on my travels which RROD but it was a nice surprise once I'd fixed it that it had the old blades dash.
I was after another for my bedroom for gaming but mainly for watching movies, my media server runs Ubuntu and by installing an app on the server for UPnP, the Xbox sees it as an extender and streams from there. Sounds really good.
Thanks again for the advice mate, much appreciated
Well it seemed to go better than the last one to the point that all the flashing had finished [compares were ok] and it now boots up with a blank screen and the center green light on. I'm going to do some digging in the morning as I seem to remember this is a sign that its a bad flash, bugger!
You sure that you haven't turned it on using the eject button as that will boot to xellous and if it's connected via hdmi you just get a black screen?
Usually if the flash is bad you'll get a red light and error 79 on the screen
Yeah it's weird, I got an E79 with the last one I did and that was because my soldering wasn't fantastic.
I'm booting it up via a component cable as it doesn't have HDMI and I'm powering on via the power button. The component cable works for my other xbox and it was working for this one before I flashed it.
I'm going to check the solder points of the jtag and start there. Failing that I'll see if I can flash back the original nand and repeat the process.
Thanks for your help
yeah, use that one, the early xenon one was 3 x 330 ohm resistors, had brain fade sorry.

lmao - 3 rrod now, it's not giving up without a fight !
Ok, so I rectified the issue with rrod reappearing.
However, the xbox boots but the green light stays on solid and four outer lights don't flash as it's booting up, and nothing appears on the screen.
The order of events are, it was running a version 5xxx blade dash, so I upped it to 7173.
The using Coolshrimps Jtag Tool, I took 3 dumps of the nand, compared them all against each other and all were fine. So I flashed xellous, got the cd key and used that to create the new bin, then flashed the nand with that.
I then got the solid green light and no video signal. Shortly after that I got 3 red rings [0110 / E20] which signifies a ram issue. After looking at the board closely, the ram ooked like it had a transparent liquid which had set near the ram. Got it off with some ArtiClean, blasted it with the heatgun and reapplied thermal compound to the gpu. Booted it back up and got the solid green light again.
Then I restored the original flash of the nand, booted it backup and it works fine and it's back on the 7173 dash.
Took another 3 dumps of the nanad, compared, all ok. Flashed Xellous, created a new .bin with the cpu key, and flashed the nand again.
Booted it back up, and the solid green light came on again, nothing on the screen.
I removed the wires for flashing the nand, booted back up, same thing.
I then removed the wires for the jtag, used new diodes, and resoldered the new wires for the jtag.
Still the same thing. Any ideas please?
Have you tried the video lead on SD settings as well as HD?
Are you 100% sure you entered the right key? (simple but has been done before)
Have you tried with/without hard drive connected?
Your sure there are no shorts anywhere...solder blobs, the usual stuff?
If it works fine when you flash back the old nand it has to be something to do with the contents of the nand or the flash itself.
Also, a little OT, but I have an 0110 jtag sitting here that I just cannot repair, it was an E79 which I fixed then I got the 0110 error and cannot for the life of me get anything out of it except 3RL 0110.
Any other tips on what I sort of stuff I should be looking for as you seem to have cured one!
If xell is booting your wires are good, have you checked for a bad block in the original dump ?
If you want to up your original dump somewhere i'll have a look and make you an image to try.

Thanks for the advice mate.
This console is component only and doesn't have HDMI but i have tried adjusting it between SD and HD to no avail [sorry I should have mentioned that earlier].
I tried it without the DVD drive which appears to be faulty, I'm not convinced its the right drive to be honest as it gives me the message that I have to play the game in a 360 which I think you can get if it isn't the right drive.
But I haven't tried it with the HD connected, thats something I overlooked so I'll give it a bash.
With regards to fixing the 0110, this console came with that error code so I stripped it and gave it a good clean, removed all the dust, blasted it with the heatgun for 3 minutes on each side and the put it back together using Arctic Silver 5 on the cpu and gpu.
This seemed toe last a little while but then when it gave me the 0110 again last night I stripped it and took a closer look at the ram as suggested on another forum somwhere. The chips looked like they had had something spilt close to them, it was see-through and had dried. I removed it very gently witha scapel blade, then cleaned the surrounding area with ArtiClean Thermal Compound Remover, then the other solution that comes with it which gets ride of the first stuff [the second is alcohol based I think].
Then I blasted it with the heatgun again, 3 minutes on both sides, and put it back together. Now it seems to work fine but I'll properly stress test it at some point soon. Now I have the cd key I can flash the DVD drive with the right key and see if it works, if not I have a spare drive I can test it with, have a bash on it for a few hours and see how it performs.
In some of the threads I saw about the 0110 / E20, people said to have a very close look at the ram, look for bridged solder joints, or it could be a cold solder joint. Like I said I had the dried out gunk on mine but this is the first one I've had with that error.
Hope that helps mate.
Hi mate
From the 6 dumps I took, I compared the first three and they were fine. I compared the last three and they were also fine.
But I've just compared some of the first three, to some of the last three and get
1 non-matching block(s) found
3DE
Does that suggest some kind of issue during the read / write of the nand?
wire up the jtag wiring and flash xell again, if it boots then we can go from there
I've left the jtag wires on, I just need to need to resolder the wires for the nand.
Do you want me to flash xell or xellous?
Evening though this is bugging the shit out of me I won't get a chance to look at tonight as I've got an interview lined up for tomorrow so I'm hitting the books!
flash xell and xellous
Excuse me if I'm asking a daft question...I thought that many moons ago you flashed xell, but now xellous has replaced that and it's xellous that should be used to get the cd / cpu key before creating the new .bin and flashing that?
I'm just going to have a dabble with it for a couple of hours and see if I can sort it out.
