    Default Ayr

Or more precisely, Girvan near Ayr!

I`m going up with work on my own (installing a big phone system) for a week very soon...anyone know much about this area? Anything interesting to do/see? Just seems a bit dull every evening doing fuck all!

im from saltcoats. 20mins from ayr. hmmmmm..... stuff to see and do? not really to be honest.

you could go shopping in ayr, but if your only free in the evenings then most shops will be closed, for shopping try going to Braehead shopping centre, a bit further out but much better.

Jump on the train to Glasgow and head for a few drinks in the city. Lots of bars to choose from, especially in the west end.

if you have time visit the Robert Burns birthplace museum..and robert burn's cottage...

if you get a nice day and finish early you could do to Ayr Racecourse?

a pub i like in ayr is called west of the moon...

    hope this helps matey

I used to go to down there allot as a kid , the last I heard the place was riddled with
Smack . I can't think of anything worth doing in the whole of Ayrshire tbh.
the scenery is nice along that coast and you can always get the train from Ayr to Glasgow .

The racecourse is nice, as is the hotel next door... Best tip is don't drive the A70 with any amount of hangover or full stomach.. its the most undulating road I have ever been on.. I spewed my ring 4 times!

To be honest, Scottish roads are dire!!!! Anyway, back from my week near Ayr. Took the mrs in the ernd for company. Actually stayed in a village called Dailly...not far from Girvan. Went to Girvan for a squizz, Turnberry, Maidens (for a meal) and Ayr...pretty dull but as I was staying and working on a holiday park I used their facilities and made use of the local pub as much as possible.

Very scenic is south west Scotland and I would defo go again...loved it.
