With the release of the high spec motorola xoom and the established apple iPad - mk 2 due to the masses in a few weeks, what HONESTLY would you buy? And why?

Xoom - Android 3 will piss all over iOS IMHO.

First to market always take the lead.
Android, due to being an open source OS, has long overtaken iOS. Specific Android tablet apps are there, its only a matter of time before they take the lead as well.

Agreed hence my use of the word currently, I had an android tablet (Advent Vega) and I was always trying to hunt equivalent apps of iOS ones as developer focus is very much looking at iOS first, what I struggled to find on Android pretty much was already on iOS.
The other thing that has dented the Android tablet so far is the pricing, everyone talks about the iPad being over priced, but obviously Samsung etc don't seem to think so and pretty much matched it had they priced it lower, as everyone was expecting they would have a higher % take up. (I know prices have dropped on the tab now but so has the iPad 1)
Obviously android is an open source , would jailbreaking ios become a factor if we are talking apps?
So far you lot. Would spend your hard earned money on a apple tablet
Or is your anonomity a factor?????????
I'm gonna wait till the end of the year and let Android develop, the iPad is superb but I really like how Android works and am interested to see how it matures

interesting stat: 1280x800 vs. 1024x768
the xoom has 237568 more pixels
seriously though the xoom looks like a real contender
I've only used a galaxy tab and an ipad before, but the lads at work who have the galaxy have let me have a play with it and I'm afraid to say I think it has a long way to catch up. Frame rates when fllicking between screens etc just don't have the fluidity of the iPad for me, and that is a major factor. It just seems like a poor imitation at the mo. Obviously this Xoom is specced up to the max, so will have to have a look at how it performs when it comes out, but I think it is gonna be a while until you get the experience you get on an iPad.
LEEDS AND PROUD
is the blackberry playbook not involved in this? becuase i quite like the stuff i have read on that
Most reviews have the higher specced pads (I think mostly the Motorola) feeling way to big and unwieldy compared to the iPad and even more so the iPad 2. I hope a decent Android Tablet at a decent price gets released but I'll stick with my current one at least until the ipad 3 and it's competition are available.
Not an option there but I have a iPad mk1 and will not be buying any other tablet as yet.
For what I'm using it for there is no need to upgrade. I have a desktop and have now found I don't use it as much, I can just sit down stairs and use logmein to control it if I need to.
I think to get me to upgrade I would need a good reason to do so like the ability to download and put stuff on a USB stick. Then the need to speed up the device would be greater.
I have bought an iPad1 recently but have owned a t mobile pulse, san Francisco , desire and now desire hd . I am now committed to both but love both . Phone wise Android swings it with non stop features and widgets etc , but I would not want this in tablet form , why would I . The iPad is lush and apps and more so games are unreal and better than most pcs can push out . Instead of ios v Android why not have both . They are both magnificent but with the size of iPad and what you would use it for I have been swayed . I never had a good thing to say about Apple but I take it back . I love both . Remember android still cannot get mega smooth scrolling after all these years yet now ios4 has multi tasking it steps up. I don't think I would change the iPad to Android as I think currently it would be a change to an inferior product , but I say the same about desire to a iPhone , no thanks I keeping the Android all day long .

I have played with the XOOM, was imported in for my company.
I must say, I really wasnt impressed.
Seemed extremely basic in my eyes, lacking various features and by the sound of the developers, there is already quite a few bugs.
iPad 2 is just a "iPhone3GS". So I wait for iPad 3.
