waterproof/underwater digital camera advice please

A request from my brother:

Help please. Does anyone know of a good waterproof or underwater digital camera. I would like one for my holiday. Don't seem to be many about and online reviews are not good, so any personal experience would be very helpful.

I have an Olympus Stylus Tough camera, I don't think it is this model but it is the same line:

It takes a decent picture but more importantly can go underwater 2 metres, can be dropped or crushed, and can be frozen so ideal for any type of holiday. Quality of photos aren't as good as a digital camera of the same price range but you are paying for the tough features.

does he want a general all weather camera or one for takin pics when diving etc?

I've got a Toshiba Camileo BW10. It's waterproof to 2m, takes 1080p video & has a 5 megapixel camera. To be fair it's not the best available but it's relatively cheap and it does work pretty well underwater. It's ideal for filming the kids in the pool and that sort of stuff.

I remember many moons ago you used to be able to get waterproof housings. Dunno if they are still about.

i bought an olympus c5050 zoom that came with a scuba diving housing off ebay a few years ogo - still going strong and has been down to 52 meters with no problems (rated for 40m)
