Default Wii turns off my TV!

OK, we have recently moved house and the only addition to my set up is Sky and a Sky HD box.

    The problem:

When playing the Wii my TV switches itself into standby and the TV LED light flashes red/green - this happens almost all the time and mostly when playing Mario Kart Wii! It can happen 4 - 5 times a minute

    The setup:

    32" Sony KD32DX100 - about 8 yrs old
    Nintendo Wii
Sky HD box (not connected to phoneline)
5.1 Sony Surround kit - not switched on when playing Wii.

We also have BB with BT and the hub is wireless enabled.

    --------------

Any ideas what can be causing this? Is the TV on its way out? Is something interfering with the TV signal? Is someone sat outside with a remote control turning my TV off? (the bastard!)

    Thanks for looking!

My bedroom tv sometimes does this when I'm on the 360. Not all the time but every so often. Never have found out why. Maybe someone is sat outside clicking standby. Have a look out the window next time.

Anything connected with a scart cable? Check the TV for a Scart Control setting and disable it if there is.

Your TV does not detect your Wii is connected to it (Probably through Composite Y/R/W?)
Try using the Scart converter and plug it into AV1.

The TV is thinking it's not being used and goes into Sleep Mode/Standby.

Find the settings for 'Auto Off', 'Sleep Mode', 'Power Saving' etc and turn them off.

Right, changed the scarts around, used the YWR, used a normal scart, no settings were set to "auto-sleep" - made no difference.

What i did notice however, was that it is not exclusive to the Wii, even with the Wii off, sometimes the TV will switch itself off, not as regular when using the Wii, but still goes off.

    Any other ideas?!

Use this as an excuse to buy yourself a new one mate

It does sound like it is on the blink...or someone has one of those remotes that can tune in to any TV.

Have you tried covering the IR sensor on the TV? Could the remote be faulty?

maybe there is a heat issue with one of the parts in the tv so it shuts down, its 8 years old, sling it out and get yourself a 56 inch 3d bad boy
