found old iphone 3g board in my crap and managed to get it back up and running

its currently on 3.1.3 (7E18)
firmware 05.12.01

i want to be on the latest software possible whilst keeping unlock, so do i have this correct. im using windows

jailbreak using redsnow and update basband 6.15.00 also using redsnow then update software via a custom ipsw ?

things change that fast i need to keep up

I think you can use redsn0w with latest iOS, during the JB there is an option to upload iPad baseband. If you use iPad baseband you will lose GPS, locations will rely on mobile and wifi data. Teams are working on a iPad baseband downgrade but no new info has been posted of late just like the NCK unlock.
