Well, hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong because I have only ever dealt with modchip/softmod combo's when I have softmodded machines....the softmod only being put on for hard drive access.....but surely you don't need a channel to boot the disk, the game should come up in the stock disk channel and start just like an original. Does this not happen on a softmod without a modchip in it ?

When ive done softmods for mates I have always installed a loader channel anyway, booting games from neogamma increases compatability and removes the risk of official updates running. Im not actually sure if the normal disk channel boots copies on a softmod machine, never tried.

u r right, the standard wii disk channel will not boot backups on a soft modded wii, my sons never did and still does not. I will tell him to boot normal games thru neogamma though after your post to remove the risk of runing updates

also any chance u can mail me the files to install NG thru the homebrew channel?

I dont have them anymore mate, its been months since I did a softmod and even then I've only done a handful so I wouldnt call myself experienced. There shoul dbe some tutorials out there that will explain it in a way far better than I could.

managed to find a neogamma r8 that can be opened thru hb off an old 32mb sd card lol, just tested a new backup so it works fine so hes fine for now

just would prefer to install a boot channel like my kids
