Play them thro XBMC you can change the aspect ratio then.

Not to worry found a cracking converter called aleesoft, it's a very slow process but the results are fantastic

why "convert" the movies, switching the aspect ratio is a standard feature on some media players. Surely a few mouse clicks, or screen taps is better than a lengthy convention process to permanently put the film into the wrong aspect ratio
