Speed Camera Detector - Any Suggestions/Recommendations?

I have decided I want a speed camera detector (no real reason apart from my struggle to keep my speed down on motorways).

There seems to be loads about, and I wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations?

cant you simply use a tomtom updated with the latest files from our very own gps sub-forum?

I've got the Road Angel Pro Connected. It comes with sim card and updates whilst your on the road, meaning if the filth set up a scamera van speed trap, other RA users can enter the location to let all other users know immediately.

Trouble with speeding on motorway is plod can be sitting on any bridge with a laser or sitting behind you in an unmarked car so at best they give you a false sense of security. Any phone running tomtom etc should be able to do what most of these will do.

I had laser diffusers a few years ago when the legality was still untested which (if you believe the sales pitch) at least give you a chance against the long distance speed traps.

That's the good thing with the Road Angel Pro, it updates in real time for the speed traps, and has a laser detector. Obviously the only thing it can't detect are unmarked cars, and even they need some sort of physical proof for a conviction.

Thanks all. I can't use a satnav as I already have it built into the car and despite my best efforts you can not update it with camera notification. I like the look of the road angel, so will look further into that. How much do the updates cost ?

5 quid a month, or 8 quid if you want to turn it into a tracker. (for if it gets stolen, or if u want to hide it in the missus' motor to see what the bitch really gets up to when she's "out shopping"!)
