Help resolution of pc (1080p) not fitting tv resolution (1080p

    Hello,

I am having a weird problem with my new microserver. I am using a ati hd radeon 4350 hdmi card and when i choose 1920x1080 in the resolution settings. The picture ends up being to big for the screen.

Is there any way to resize this with a program etc? Im sure nvidia provide a tool in there control panel to do just this, but I cant find one in the ATI tools.

try changing the refresh rate.. or download the driver from ati which will probably come with catalyst (ati's graphics config app)

I had this on my tv from my revo. Eventually worked out that 1080 wasnt good for me so had to find a 720 resolution that fitted the screen.

yep get this on my nvidia + bravia - lots of overscan

nvidia have a screen resize tool in the control panel which fixes it, catalyst should have the same

I had this with my Revo where the screen was slightly bigger than the display. I had to change the settings on my TV to from 16:9 to actual size. You have a Samsung so it could just be that?

I had this problem when I first got my Samsung 50" Plasma and my media centre was having the same issue with the picture not being set correctly. When I did a little investigation, I discovered that only one particular HDMI port on the TV was meant for a PC connection. As soon as I used this port, the picture was absolutely perfect. So you may want to try each one of the HDMI ports on the TV to see if this is the problem you are having.

This is something else that's worth trying as well, I noticed that nothing else worked in this HDMI port so it makes sense to have my PC using it.

Try Powerstrip if the socket issue doesn't cure it.
