Default rather than a book section could we have a...

I was thinking a while ago that a book section would be a good addition for df, with more and more people reading eBooks, magazines on kindle, iPad etc It would have given us some space to link to good books and recommend others as well as centralizing all the links to free magazines, eBooks etc and some of the tutorials like jail breaking the Kindle, content management via pc etc, I know at the time there was some confusion as to what section i was meaning as there’s already a sort of section in the downloads but that was all before the upgrade and it’s gone now,

What I was wondering is if we could have a sticky like the what am I listening to thread in the Movies, TV & Music section, something identical to the music version but more of a What am I reading thread, at least that way we can sort of gauge what others are reading and see if we like the sound of it,

    Just a thought

    Gets my vote.................I'm currently reading:

UFOs: Generals, Pilots and Government Officials Go on the Record: Amazon.co.uk: Leslie Kean: Books@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41cZOmIXiAL.@@AMEPARAM@@41cZOmIXiAL

It's a real eye opener and although my mind was open before I starting reading it, having got around 3/4 of the way through it I'm now convinced UFO's are something that really exist. I'm still not sure where they come from or what they are but the evidence for their existence seems overwhelming.

Seems like an excellent idea. I download the majority of my books from Demonoid which has a crazy amount of content. I then store them directly in my Dropbox folder which I can access and download at any time on my Kindle' iPad or phone.

if we did have some where specific for all the ebook talk even if its just a sticky in one of the other threads, then people would know where to look. at the moment most of the main ebook/kindle/ipad talk is happening in 3 or 4 different threads in 2-3 different sections its difficult to people new to the kindle/ipad/ebooks etc to know where to look for tips on where to grab the newist books from or free magazines etc, and it makes it even harder for people to know where to post when asking for help or suggestions. the 2 threads further down are bound to appeal to the same kind of person regardless of device but one is in the apple section the other in the gadgets emporium meaning someone needing help with a kindle wouldnt even know to look in the apple section yes you could use the search function but its not the most elegant of solutions and if you're new to the whole ebook concept, as more and more people on df are with kindles, ipads iphones android phones and tablets even something as small as a sticky in a thread where you can post what you're reading would help

Any news on if we can have a sticky somewhere?

I know I probably shouldnt do it here but how is the new bond book? I read a bit in the back a news paper and they were saying bond has aquired a scar down his face and has long greasy black hair, it doesnt sound much like bond going by the review but a lot of newspapers give fiction a hard time so I tend to take it with a pinch of salt but they only gave it 1 out of 4 stars

btw I just started reading The ancient curse by Valerio Massimo Manfredi and its not bad again its another short one at something like 250ish pages in paperback form although I will say once it gets going, keeps going and going. to me it reads like a David Gibbins treasure hunt style crossed with a Scott Sigler monster thriller

im enjoying it anyway, even if i have spelt his name wrong 4 times while writing this lol

I find it quite odd that this thread has been ignored or overlooked by mods. I thought Rap would have been well up for this idea, but I can see the reason why it would probably have to go to the VIP area !

It's not being ignored at all. It is being discussed.

    Thanks to Roach-Rampino

A further update, we are going ahead with this but will need a few days to iron out the details, so hang on for a little longer folks!
