well its been about a week *I think, and in that time I've polished off a few more years of Janet Evanovich's books. I've read Lean mean thirteen, Fearless fourteen, Finger lickin' fifteen, Sizzling sixteen as well as the stephanie plum short stories The last peep, Visions of sugar plums, plum lovin', plum lucky and lastly Plum Spooky

I've got Smoking seventeen and Explosive eighteen still to go but I'm guessing I'm going to be looking for something new to read by monday lol

Well that was the end of those two, both Smoking seventeen and Explosive eighteen are no more I would recommend the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich its a light, entertaining, car destroying series that ive really enjoyed,

Haven't had chance for much reading over the last few months due to work/Christmas/SW:TOR amongst other things. Just finished Stephen Kings 11/22/63 though and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm currently working my way through the Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child. Read 4 of them so far and enjoying them. Just started "The art of fielding" by Chad Harbach and then it's on to Alan Partridge.

I'm always on the lookout for something new, the only thing id ask though is what kind of fantasy are they? I tried to read the Song of ice and fire saga by George R R Martin, truth be told I've tried a few times can't get through Game of thrones (Which is the first in the series lol)

If you are struggling with Game of Thrones then I don't think you will cope with the Malazan series. The Malazan books are brilliant but there are some overly complex plotlines that make George R R Martin's books seem like Nursery books in comparison. Malazan books are each about a 1000 pages long and are very hard core fantasy. Not for the faint hearted 

    Thanks to flik

Your only on book 3 mate. Brilliant books though if you can get your head round it all (Talking about all the books now Prezzy. You haven't scratched the surface yet trust me.) Which series would you say was the easiest reading btw and also please tell me you have read Lord of the Rings lol.

Here is a link to some good reviews but does contain spoilers so be warned http://sffworld.com/brev/si118p0.html

Yea I looked on there, is where I got the idea to read them from - all the books get excellent reviews.
I have done all Ice and Fire books so far and I did the First Law Trilogy which were very good.
I read LOTR about 20 years ago

I will report back once I have polished off all of these, may be a while though !

same here I read LOTR when I was a kid and even then I wasn't that keen I found/find it hard to suspend belief enough to get really into the fantasy genre, its a shame because I know a few people who love the ice and fire series.

I don't really mind a book that's got 1000+ pages as long as I enjoy the story, Reamde for instance is 1000+ pages and I loved it even through it sprained my wrist lol (from holding it not wanking lol) Its the same with films, Geek or not I personally don't like star wars or star trek for the same reason

There are two more books after the First Law books. The latest one, The Heroes is very good. I think that JA is very much going down the same road David Gemmell did with his Fantasy novels which is certainly no bad thing.

We know you don't mind 1000 page books as you read about 50 books a week lol!

Ah cool I didn't know there were some more - are they based on the same characters as the first law trilogy?

Not read any David Gemmell books either, would you recommend them then?

Ive got about 50 pages or so of The Bedlam Detective by Stephen Gallagher left and i'm really enjoying it, (I lost track of time and read half the book lol) its not my normal style of book but I like it, it feels very much like The Suspicions of Mr Whicher by Kate Summerscale although that was based on true events.

as per the rules links to be able to try it for yourself are in the VIP downloads section

Yes there are some of the characters from First Law. Heroes was very good.

As for Gemmell he is essential fantasy reading and very easy going too.
    http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/g/david-a-gemmell/
Start with the Drenai series first. His most famous character Druss is introduced in the first book Legend.
Save the Troy series until last just for Gemmell's amazing take on the battle between Achillees and Hector. Incidentally he died whilst writing book 3 but his Wife finished it doing a superb job to boot.
Casio if you get your mitts on these you would probably finish them all in 2 weeks lol.

    2 Thanks given to flik
