lol maybe, i've just grabbed all his books so it cant hurt to give them a go, and if I like them I can blame you for making me poor when I accidentally order some from amazon lol (I have a kindle but I love having a proper book in my hands, plus if I own the physical book I don't feel bad for downloading the the ebook version)

I'll post links to download them in the vip downloads, I would post them in this thread but the rules are the rules

quick update from me I've read

Before I go to sleep -S J Watson
The dead men - Joel Goldman
    Living lies - Kate Mathis
and I'm reading Messages by John Michael Hileman

With the exception of Before I go to sleep by SJ Watson they are all available for free from amazon and are in the top 100 books list I cant remember how much Before I got to sleep was but its available from cheaper sources anyway lol

the only one I wouldn't have read had I known it was as bad as it was was Living lies by Kate Mathis the premise was good but I don't know how she thought it was good enough to publish, there were chapters that had no formatting or punctuation and it would have benefited from being run through a spell checker before allowing it out into the wild, its flaws in work like that, that will chase the publishers and agents off before they even get interested.

I picked up The Lazarus Strain by Ken McClure for free on the Kindle store a couple of months ago and just got round to reading it this week. Very good medical/thriller with a likeable lead character ( Dr Steven Dunbar) although I did guess the plot twist towards the end of the book well before it happened. It turns out there are another 8 of these Steven Dunbar books so I may well give another one a go (Probably the first one as this was number 6 in the series!)

Lately I've read Sanctus by Simon toyne, uprising by Scott mariani, the Istanbul puzzle by Lawrence obrian, and the alchemists secret by Scott mariani. Really enjoyed all of them apart from the Istanbul puzzle which was a struggle to get through for me. Not sure if it was his style of writing or what but I won't be bothering with any more of his puzzles after that one.

I thought the same I couldn't put my finger on it all the way through it did just enough to feel awkward and while I'm not going to spoil it for anyone the whole final 3rd of the book felt a little disjointed like O'brian got so far and struggled to tie it up in time for the ending. I wouldn't say I didn't like it, more I had to work at it to get to the end if that makes sense.

I've just put Pantheon by Sam Bourne down, I've read all his others and you can feel the development of the author as his confidence builds I'd say it's easily a match for any Dan Brown, and the early jack reacher books

Yep i agree with you, i can't quite decide what it was about it but it was a struggle to finish. It did just enough to keep me interested and plodding on through the next chapter.

Ive been off work and at home without proper internet access since last friday, so I've had nothing to do and nothing new to watch (I download virtually everything I watch lol) so I've been burning through my unread book stash.

    so I've read

    Pantheon - Sam Bourne
    1222 - Anne Holt
The Sisters brothers - Patrick DeWitt
    Restless - William Boyd
The Silver Linings playbook - Matthew Quick
The junior Officers Book club - Patrick Henessey

I think The Sisters brothers is a marmite book I absolutely hated it but my girlfriend loved it, the others were time fillers nothing more until I got to The Junior officers book club which I think could be one of the best books I've read in 4-5 years. Its one of those that I bought and put on the shelf and never felt like picking it up and I cant believe that I waited so long to read it.

With a few exceptions I don't usually read books focused on the military, I've lost a close mate that I grew up with to IED's in Afghanistan and my best mate (I'm going to be his best man when he gets married in june) -served 4 tours of Afghanistan and 3 in Iraq and to tell you the truth I don't think I could have done what he and the rest of the lads out there have done and are still doing. Part of the book is focused on a tour in Afghanistan, and it's a quite visceral and rough read in parts but if you can I'd say read it,

I don't want to big it up too much as it's no War & Peace (although Alan may beg to differ!) but it is an amusing, light read and a total must for AP fans.

Mate it is 100% Partridge-y....I guess if you don't like him then it won't be funny.

So just to clarify, it's a must read for Partridge fans. Anyone else will probably not get the humour.

    Thanks to Roach-Rampino

If you like gaming you could do worse than read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. I've put a review up on my blog here : http://www.leeandgrace.co.uk/wordpre...-ernest-cline/

    I really, really enjoyed it.

It's been about a week since my last update so here goes I've read,

The eye of the witch - Dana Donovan
    Replica - Lexi Revellian
77 shadow street - Dean Koontz
Trail of the spellmans - Lisa Lutz
Run Run Run - Mark Capell
A Perfect evil - Alex Kava
Quantum of tweed - Conn Iggulden (short story so I don't think it counts)
the woman in black - Susan Hill

I started reading War Horse by Michael Morpurgo that way I get to enjoy it before I see the film so if the film is terrible it wont ruin the book (same reason I read The woman in black)

'kinell casio, it's taken me 5 weeks to finish half a book. I know time to read helps and 15-20 mins a night isn't going to get through a lot of books. I guess you speed read? If so, was it a self taught thing?
What is it with steel wool? Is it steel? Or is it wool?

    Thanks to ka$h

Lol no m8 I tried speed reading years ago but I couldn't do it I kept stopping to make sure I was getting it right and I never was so I gave it up as a bad job lol I do read quickly though but that's down to practice, saying that I have read a lot more since I cancelled sky

I wouldn't worry about how long it takes to read a book as long as you enjoy it I don't think it matters

    Thanks to casio
