I have currently just finished reading '' metro 2033 ''

and i must say it is a fantastic book =]

however if you fancy something a bit more fantasy and are familiar with a gentleman called yatzee from zero puntuation then check out his book called '' mogworld'' as this is by far one of the most funny books i have read, i think it helps that i can relate to the book as a gamer

Finished the Wool Trilogy now, fantastic.
Lots of questions afterwards... Is that good or bad?

Now I will be moving onto 'Commando Dad' in preparation for the sprog in just over 4 weeks.
Following on from that I will get onto Doctor Sleep.

Just read 900 Miles: A Zombie Novel by S. Jonathan Davis. Pretty decent read but nothing different to other Zombie/apocalypse books.

Never read or watched the film/s. Sounds like something I would like though would you recommend the books before the film/s or the film/s first to familiarise myself with the characters?

seeing how i've been working between two and three peoples jobs at work (I've been doing my job as well as covering for a woman who's been off on maternity leave and I've been covering for the delivery drivers when they've been off sick) my reading has suffered. i've only been going through three-ish books a week but its been so long since I last updated its still added up to an embarrassing amount lol Although now shes back I'll be returning to my normal 40hr week rather than the 65-75hr week I have been doing, and although I'll still be covering for the drivers until after christmas I'll be able to both visit df more and catch up on some of the books in this thread that sound ok

Ok, so since my last update I've read
The City of strangers by Michael Russell
Finding Colin Firth by Mia March -I found this in the place you put your trolly at the supermarket just hanging on a trolly
The Poisoned Island by Lloyd Shepherd
The Girl with no name by Marina Chapman - I thought this was brilliant its a true story about a girl raised by monkeys
The lost testament by James Becker
Like this forever by Sharon Bolton
The stranger you know by Jane Casey
    Twist by John Lutz
    Code by Kathy Reichs
Pharaoh by David Gibbins (not as good as his others but the hardback slipped by without me noticing)
Touch and Go by Lisa Gardner
    Ghost hunters by Neil Spring
The Orpheus descent by tom harper
Atlantis Revelation by Marcus Blake -this could be the worst book I've ever read
    The one by Suggs
War of the roses by Conn Iggulden
A top on the window by Linwood Barclay
    Sycamore Row by John Grisham
    Doctor Sleep by Stephen King
Never go back by Lee Child
    Gone by James Patterson
The moaning of life by Karl Pilkington
    The traitor by Kimberly Chambers
The Advent killer by Alastair Gunn
    Cold grave by Craig Robertson
Witness the dead by Craig Robertson
House of small shadows by Adam Nevill
Dead man's land by Robert Ryan
A question of identity by Susan Hill
and at the moment I'm reading Dolly by Susan Hill

going by this thread there's a few that have piqued by interest so once Dolly is dispatched I think 100 year man is my next one

I'm currently half way through the third book of the Pheonix Conspiracy series. It's a space opera about an intelligence agent that has a good mix of action, drama and politics.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Phoenix-...ds=pheonix+war

It is a series of five books, four of which are curently available. I can think of various Star Trek and Star Wars storylines that are somewhat similar, but with a massive expanded Star Wars universe and 600+ episodes of Star Trek, pretty much every story has been told, so it's bound to happen.

Anway, I am loving these books. If you are a sci-fan then I thoroughly recommend them. The great thing is, the first book is free, so if you don't like it you can bin it and haven't wasted any money!

I am currently reading the last of the Arkady Renko stories by Martin Cruz Smith. I have gone through from Gorky park to Havana Bay in the space of 6 weeks.. I cant put them down.

I havent seen Gorky park the film so I had no reference point and just stumbled on them in one of the usual download places.. I can certainly recommend.

They are your standard detective thriller but well written with soem great twists and turns and the Russian context bring soem interestong social observations.

@Ginnerfreak once you're done with the last of Martin Cruz Smith's Arkady Renko series have a look at Tom Rob Smith's Leo Demidov trilogy (Child44, The Secret Speech and Agent 6) I really enjoyed them,

did you read all 7 of the Arkady Renko series in the order? the reason I ask is that I messed up and read Wolves eat dogs, and then Three stations rather than Stalin's Ghost and it kind of neutered Stalin's ghost for me,

I started S. aka The Ship of Theseus by JJ Abrams and Doug Dorst on Friday and I can't really work out a proper way of reading it, you see its sort of a book within a book, you have a book that two people have lent from a library and scribbled messages to each other in the margins where they talk about the books author -VM Straka, his translator FX Caldeira its got loads of other stuff like postcards, newspaper cuttings, cypher wheel napkins with maps on etc which have all been added over time as the pair pass the book from one to the other. so I've ended up reading in a weirdly stunted way where i'm reading a paragraph and then the notes that Eric and Jen have left.

one thing I have decided about it is that its weirdly obsessional, although normally I would have finished a book of its page count by this point I find myself going back and forth reading and rereading as I follow the clues by they photos, maps, letters etc, I would recommend buying a copy but only in paper from, you would lose so much of what makes this book what it is if you only got the digital version.

I've found a couple of bits about the book that you can have a read at if you fancy it (btw I got my copy from amazon for £16 inc delivery because I've not seen it on sale anywhere else)
