    Help What have I done?

Literally woke up one on Tuesday morning with a sore ankle, so I went to work, hobbling in and out of the car, over the day the ankle pain got worse.
Then when I returned home from work yesterday, I took shoe off and literally couldn't walk any more.

Didn't sleep last night as it was throbbing, along the top of the foot close to the ankle and then all around the sides.

Today, I'm still in agony, I don't have anyone to drop buy with pain killers so I just have to deal with it for now.

So it started swelling, and hasn't stopped today so far, along with a constant throbbing pain, and the pain stops me moving my ankle in any direction at all.

Is this just a sprain? With no bruising?

I'm worried it's gout, but at 22, I'm not sure this would be right.

    Thoughts?

Yep looks like gout to me too.

Drinks gallons of water - no fizzy drinks or alcohol. Get to your docs asap as they will give you some good medication to get it under control.

My old man had the same earlier this year, woke up with a swolen ankle. It was diagnosed as gout, had to keep it elevated - took ages to go back down again. Get yourself down to the docs to get it confirmed.

Edit: should say it's the first time he's had it, and it hasn't come back.

I've had gout twice and for me (does not work for everyone) a litre or so of cherry juice knocked it on the head. Have a little Google and pick your brand, certain types of cherry have a greater effect but I did not go for the most expensive by a long way.
First time I used it I was relatively pain free the next day and the second took a little longer but this is with NO medication.

Bummer was hoping it wasn't gout, I'm actually going to a and e shortly as the swelling has gotten worse, along with intense pain for almost two days. I also have lots of pre assure lumps on the top of the foot that hurt like he'll.

Isn;t gout the disease of opulence? At least it's not as embarrassing as trying to explain to your mates you you've ended up with genital warts on your face or something

I'm not sure Hobbits suffer from gout. Rub some sowthistle on it and bathe it in Elves urine.

If you can't find an Elf a Goth might work. . .

Yep looks liek gout to me too, my brother got it at 28 the first time, so 22 doesn't sound too unlikely.
    Good luck with A+E.

If it's gout you need to avoid foods rich in purine - which is frequently foods that are good for you. Meat in general, products with yeast in (so beer included), mushrooms and alcohol are all on the no no list. Fruit and plenty of fluids are the solution (and time).
