Question Own brand products that are the real thing

As I understand it, it's common practice for brand name food product manufacturers to also produce the supermarket own brands.

I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone had any information on such practices and hopefully if we could put together a list.

I remember from a decade or so ago a TV programme that stated that M&S Jaffa Cakes were in fact manufactured by McVities and were the same product.

The only one I know for sure which I doubt many DF'ers have ever bought is Asda's meat free mixes (burger, sausage, nut roast etc.) which are all produced by Granose and identical to their own products except for packaging.

So, anyone aware of any more?

Westons cider is frequently used as the own brand ones - Sainsburys and I think Waitrose use them.

I searched but couldn't find anything, the key words aren't exactly unique.

I watched a program about Heinz and they made Baked Beans for one of the supermarkets (think it was Tesco) but the used dried ingredients for the supermarket and fresh for there own!

I just got back from a week working away in Cardiff, and can confirm that Tesco Value bread is made in the same bakery as Kingsmill

    Thanks to arrison
