The new prices will be effective from August 12th. However, if you've already bought a Nintendo 3DS and are feeling a little annoyed by this rather early price cut, never fear - Nintendo has you covered, too.
Anyone who has bought - or buys - a Nintendo 3DS before August 11th will be rewarded with 20 free games before the year is out.
On September 1st, you'll be able to grab a set of 10 free NES games, including
Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber, and
The Legend of Zelda. These games will become available later on to purchase for other 3DS owners.
Then, before the end of 2011, ten free Game Boy Advance titles will become available to download from the eShop, again exclusively for those who purchased the console before August 11th.
Games on this list include
Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3, Mario Kart: Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc: Mega Microgames, and
Mario vs. Donkey Kong. These games will apparently never be available to other 3DS owners, and will be exclusive to 'Ambassadors'.
Could this perhaps be the boost that the Nintendo 3DS needed?
