    Photos Heat Haze

No editing except for a crop and straighten on this, with a touch of levels.

What it shows is the heat haze looking across the beach at Lytham St Anne's towards Southport, on the North West coast of England and I kinda like the abstractness that the heat has created.

The structure is the old pier a few hundred yards out across the sands. Only one storey of the jetty can now be seen but there were originally three storeys and a deep channel passed in front, suitable for steamboats which took passengers to Lytham, Southport & Blackpool.

When a new shipping channel to Preston was created in the 1890s the old channel silted up and the level of sand on St.Anne's beach rose by over 20 feet. Since then, it is only on very high tides that the water covers the foreshore.

On this day, the sun was intensely hot and we all 3 of us, me, wife, and kid, ended up with obvious red patches where the sun DID shine!

Different mate. You've captured the haze very well. I wouldn't have seen a shot like this to be honest so well seen

    Thanks to dpSparhawk

I think I like the fact you've not tried to blow up the levels in it, but left it pretty much as is, and it's still an interesting shot.
    Nicely captured.
