Garmin Nuvi 250

Hi all in the know,

I've been handed a garmin nuvi tosee if I can update the maps, speed cams, radars, voices and whatever else - looking at the legit option first it seems to want to charge a fee for 4 updates a year, or a one-off payment for free maps for life.

Is there a way to get around this, I've even heard whispers of putting TomTom on a Garmin device - anyone tried this? I've had a quick search but can't find much of use. (probably looking in the wrong place).

Any assistance gratefully appreciated.

dont think you can put tomtom on garmins,
but the maps are easy enough to do,
just remove original after backing up first and download an unlocked map from usuall sources
