    Attention 3D Media Centre !!

    Hey all,

Currently creating my upgrade list to order tomorrow hopefully.

    What you think of:

CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (Overclocked to 4.30Ghz)

MB: ASUS P8P67-M PRO Intel P67

    RAM: 4GB Mushkin Silverline (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz 9-9-9-24

Extra cooling: Corsair H60 Water-Cooling CPU

GFX: Not sure yet, must be able to handle 3D films

What graphics card would you advise for 3D films?

    Regards,
    Jon

looks overkill for a media centre, I'm not sure how much more demanding 3D is, but a motherboard with an onboard ION (or better still ION2) GPU will handle any media you throw at it.

Isn't that a bit overkill for a media centre?I have a dual core cpu passively cooled,2 gig of ram and a passively cooled graphics card for about 30 quid with hdmi out oh and a cheap ass mobo.Plays 1080p no probs and i've got a load of 3D films on it.

What's your spec? I would rather replace my old motherboard which blew last year as that handed everything I through at it, 3D not tested. But I can't find a replacement and gigabyte keep sending it back broken.

Cpu is an intel dual core e8200 running at stock,2 gig of ram, radeon hd6450,1tb hitachi drive and a gigabyte ga-73pvm-s2h mobo.It was running ok with the on board gpu but struggled at 1080p until i got the gfx card so expect a more up to date mobo would negate the need for one.
I also run a similar spec amd dual core media centre as well which would probably be cheaper again.

Yeah perfectly...The specs for the card says 1.4a.

Only problem i had was if i was running the sound through the audio out on the mobo into seperate speakers it needed an offset putting in on xbmc as it was a bit out with the video, but running both sound and video through the card via hdmi straight to the tv its perfect.

Ideal cheers, so if I can get a new board this will be fine for 3D:

    Antec Fusion v2
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 3.1GHz Socket AM2 1MB
    Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H 780G Socket AM2+
    4GB (2x2GB) Corsair Dominator DDR2
    1.5TB Seagate ST31500341AS Barracuda (3tb in total)
LG Blue Ray & HD DVD Reader x16

Need to upgrade my amp by the looks of it as the new TV is HDMI 1.4
