Best CPU Cooler for AMD?

Hey chaps, looking for some advice. I am in the market for a new cpu cooler as i'm currently running on the stock cooler which amd supply

I am currently running a AMD Phenom II X6 1055T, but I'm thinking of reverting back to my AMD Phenom II X4 965 as i'm not really getting the benefit's of a hexcore processor yet.

Anyhoo, could any of you AMD fanatic's recommend a decent CPU air cooler?

I have looked around a bit and a few places recommend the Arctic freezer 7 Rev2 but i'm not so keen on the fan blowing hot air onto my gpu.

any recommendations?

I bought it mainly for quietness and it's an awesome bit a kit. It even comes with two 12cm fans although I'm using only one which pushes the air directly out of the side of my case.

The arctic 7 freezer pro rev 2 is widely classed as the best in that price range. You decide which direction the fan faces so just face it the other way to your GPU mate

You sure evilsatan? I've just read that with AMD motherboard's your force to face the fan downwards or towards your memory modules?

Read somewhere you can position the fan towards the bottom or top, that's fine for me my pc has a top mounted exhaust fan

I haven't tried with an AMD CPU but with my LGA1156 Intel iCore build I could face it whichever way I wanted.

I used to have the CoolerMaster 212 plus cooler for my i7 very good had it running at 4.8ghz and still kept my CPU at at nice temp. Plus you can have two 12cm fans on it and mount it in any direction you want In the case. Only reason I took it of was because I got the corsair h80

Yeah Lou3b, seems to be something with the retention plate of AMD which limit's you to only two directions on AMD apparently

i used some arctic silver paste and it now runs 8 - 10 deg (Celcius) cooler with the stock cpu fan at 2400 rpm (AMD Phenom II X4 955)

got a 6 core 1090t in the other pc but not tried that one yet.
