Default Quick question about Meta Keywords

I'm currently working on a site for perfume for a friend and need to know how I should layout the keywords for the site.

Should they be as keyWORDS seperated by commas?

    Example -
joop, femme, eau, de, toilette, discount, fragrance, designer,

    or as keyPHRASES -
joop femme, eau de toilette, discount fragrance, designer fragrance,

Which is the prefered? I was under the impression Google looks for phrases made up of your keywords, rather than full phrases that exist in them?

    EDIT:
More to the point, if anyone can give any pointers on improving SEO (consoles?) I'd really appreciate it.
    The site is @ http://www.scentsationalperfumes.com

It's not doing too badly, but he's trying to improve his exposure as he has some competition from a site @ http://www.scentsationalperfume.co.uk/ (who launched later).

you can do both m8, my advice is search google for your competitor, see whos 1st and see what they are using, do this with 2/3 and you will get a better idea

    Cheers Det,

I've just been told that Meta Tag Keywords are not that important and the Meta-Description should be different to the product details that are readable by the user.
I can see this meta data business being seriously time consuming with over 7,000 products!!

Google ignores meta-keywords pretty much all together when it comes to ranking sites (http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...-meta-tag.html) as its too open to abuse. For on site SEO you mostly want to look at including the keywords you want to rank for within the content of the webpages and improve your keyword density rather than worry about meta-keywords (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyword_density). Then you need to look at off site SEO and try and build some backlinks to the site using your desired keywords in the anchor text of the links. Maybe start reading here http://www.seomoz.org/beginners-guide-to-seo and pick up some ideas...

See if you can get hold of a copy of Internet Business Promoter as it will do a comparison of your site compared to the top 10 ranked sites on things such as meta, keyword density, use of H1 tags etc etc

Ive got IBP here can run an optimization report for you if you want and put the PDF in a drop box.

From what i seen so far (only had a look for a couple of mins) it looks good from an onsite point of view.

    Certainly interested in IBP.

So, as it stands, it's too bad anyway - I should not be too worried about the keywords?
