Doom Classic has arrived on the AppStore and it's fab! Very smooth and fluid. Controls are a dream. A must have for anyone who loved the original
played it for 20 mins this morning and absolutely love it. Other devs should beg ID for this control scheme. *

'Doom Classic' arrives on iPhone
Sunday, November 1 2009, 10:36 GMT
By Mark Langshaw, Gaming/Comics Reporter
id Software's retro first-person shooter Doom Classic is now available for iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
The game appeared on the App Store last night to coincide with Halloween. It is priced at £3.99, or $6.99.
According to director John Carmack, this is a more significant undertaking than the studio's Wolfenstein 3D port. "Wolfenstein 3D Classic was a quickie project to satisfy my curiosity and test the iPhone waters, but Doom is a more serious effort," he said.
"In addition to the millions of people with fond memories of the game, there is still an active gaming/development community surrounding the original Doom, and I don't want to disappoint any of them."
All three episodes from the 1993 original are featured, along with the bonus chapter 'Thy Flesh Consumed'. There are three customisable control schemes to choose from, and local multiplayer is supported via wi-fi.
Online multiplayer mode is expected to be added at a later date.

Doom gets my vote here! The controls are just fantastic!! Would be good if they could patch Duke Nukem with the same ones.... Although Doom cost me £3.99 and Duke was only 59p so I can't grumble lol

Pocket Tunes Radio nice little listen to loads of radio stations plus the facility to record great app.
again, nice app but not really a game. Krooks was supposed to be making an Essential apps thread but seems not to have got round to it. I'll knock one up in a minute.
meanwhile, 2XL Supercross is on sale at the moment for £2.99 (reduced from £4.99) and well worth the money. GFX are amazing

Any poker fans out there get youself World Series Poker Hold Em. It's excellent, and has a multiplayer option over Wifi or 3G which works well.
