    Info Fireblade crash bobbins

I have changed my 1200 Bandit for a 2005 Blade, I would like to protect the fairing so have been looking at bobbins. Any tips please on which type to go for, most advertised seem to need a hole drilled through the fairing, I am not too worried about this but wonder if there any that fit without cutting the fairing.

I've not had a motorcycle for over 25 years so didn't even know what crash bobbins were. I did a search for "motorcycle bobbins without holes?" and this was the first page.

Is this what you're on about?

Yes that is exactly what I mean, the problem is that the ones shown for my bike are £155. I cant make out from the pictures where they fit so was hoping someone would have experience of them. My local bike shop who are not known for being cheap claim they can get some for £40. It seems that this is too good to be true so perhaps they are not worth having!

Cheap crash bobbins are used attached directly to the frame and even if the bike is only dropped they can often cause more damage (frame twisting) that not using them. The more expensive ones usually go right through the frame and can have a damping component as part of their structure. This should stop any torsion on the frame and prevent it from being written off.....usually!
