    Info virgin tivo

    Howdy..

We are having tivo fitted on sunday and i need to know how they fit it, the reason is the wires go behind the fireplace and there is a board infront with shelves on, so I need to what wiring they need to get to, we have virgin broadband and a hd box at the moment, so whet do they use/what extra wires will there be? just another one for the record function?

Hope someone can help, thanks in advance

AFAIK the TiVo uses your existing cables and no extra ones.

They won't change any cabling but they should have offered to move your existing V+ box to another room for free.
    If at first you don't succeed.....redefine success. . . .

It IS a new card so it can take a while to get it authorised, have they not offered you the V+ Move?

It's not that simple. Virgin just will not allow a self install with TiVo.
There's a demo of the box to go through if you need it, cabinet to house power levels to check (especially if there's other Virgin equipment installed that it's going to be running alongside) and general TV set up. It's simpler, cheaper and more productive for them to send an engineer to install it in the first instance rather than send it out to hundreds and hundreds of potential technophobes who would be on the phone the second it arrives saying it doesn't work. It's VM's premium product, they don't want fuck ups.
Imagine this: VM send you a TiVo for self-install. When you set it up and plug it in it's faulty. You're not happy, don't have the service you're paying for and have to arrange for an engineer to come anyway. Virgin have to say they're sorry and potentially forfeit taking any monies from you for services until they're installed and working. Lose/lose.
On the other hand, an engineer comes to fit it, it's faulty so he goes to his van and gets another or gives his colleague a ring who drops one off. Installed - working - everyone's happy.
