Help Just cancelled my Virgin package

I have just cancelled Virgin as they give me feck all for being a long term customer. I am paying 55 quid a month for 10meg broadband medium TV, no HD no PVR and medium home phone package of free evening and weekends.. Think I am being conned!

couple of questions for my fellow DFer's,

    1. Do Virgin have a call back customer retention team like SKY who will call you two weeks after cancellation and offer the earth to keep you as a customer.. My research so far says NO!

    2. What the best sky offer youve seen. Is it a good idea just to phone them and see what theyll offer me?

    Thanks

Ginner Virgin don't call back, ring them back and play merry hell with a supervisor, there are plenty of Sky offers around one on here for half price TV, what you need to check is what broadband speeds you can get where you live and is that enough if it is then the total package with Sky is probably good enough, you'll get a free HD box with Sky at the mo, although having said that I love Tivo and the ADSL broadband package where I live is pants so only real option for me is Virgin, both have there own benefits it's whatever fits mate.

I have virgin, got broadband, and sky for tv. For the full package on sky, I pay £37 a month. Virgin r shite, only good for broadband.

I've just moved house half way through a 12 month contract and Virgin made me sign a new 12 month contract. The new contract says I can cancel within 7 days so I'm thinking about calling to cancel as i hate the HD box, its so noisy plus I get Freeview at my new house so i've no need for the TV. Ideally i'd like to drop the TV package and just get the 50MB broadband instead. I recon its worth a call anyway.

"Virgin r shite, only good for broadband."

Bit of a sweeping statement mate, I know we all have good and bad experiences with many vendors in life but to say they are shite without substance or evidence to back it up is a bit off, personally I have never had an issue with Virgin and can't rate them highly enough, the services I get are better than Sky for me....like I said earlier depends on what you need and whether it fits for you.

Sounds a lot that..? I was paying £65 for two boxes (a V+ and a VHD) with XL TV, 30mb BB and telephone with talk international.
Downgraded this week though as we don't watch all the extra channels and we're broke, frankly.
Now paying £37.25 (should have been £40.50 but got a discount) for one V+ box with M+ TV, 10mb BB and same phone package.

I'd ring them back and try and speak to someone. Whenever I need to change things I'm just dead nice and explain money's tight etc and they usually try their best.
Worth mentioning you can get better value for money by taking out more services, as they have a combo-discount thing going on (i.e. V+, BB and XL TV like I had).

    2 Thanks given to Zoots

I pay £21 a month just for 10 meg BB. I did get a new free router a few months back cos i complained that a tech rep from abudabi gave my mate some abuse and all he wanted was his broadband fixing.

You need to talk to the call centre. I think it was in Sheffield. They will bend over backwards to help you. If you get anyone else that is not in the UK simply ask to speak to a Uk call centre

    I have:

    50mb broadband (xxl)
    TV (xl)
    Telephone (XL)
    Tivo 1tb
    V HD in another room
    HD Package for Sky Sports
    Sky Sports
    Telephone Line Rental

£90 a month for 3 months then £96 thereafter, obviously without Sky Sports and HD Pack for the Sports it would be much cheaper?

Let me know if you need anything else mate.

    Thanks to chesser

    currently with Virgin

Freeview TV (no hd box and no additional boxes) - box is unplugged as i dont watch TV
Phone (free weekend calls + line rental) - Phone is unplugged as have good mobile deal
    Broadband 50MB - heavily used

    all for £41 a month

i wanted to drop the Phone and TV Package and just have broadband but would end up costing me more....mental!

And with any luck he'll drown in the undershit of that wave. Shitwaves.

I've had both so I'm speaking from my past dealings. Also the HD channels on virgin are a little sparse, I guess they might have a few more by now tho. Just my 2 cents..

Interesting!! I think Ill give it a couple of weeks until I phone them to negotiate. I assumed that they would. When I phoned to cancel they asked why and didnt really seem interested in offering me a deal to keep my custom!..

Just looked at my online bill for August.. Bill date: 22-Aug-2011
    Payment due date: 12-Sep-2011
    Amount: £69.85

Chez is paying 20 quid more and getting a world of difference..

    Bummers!
