Tech Anybody help me track down a HP Pavilion laptop keyboard?

    Hi everyone,

Can anybody help me find a hp pavillion dv7 4144ea replacement laptop keyboard. I ordered one that i thought would be ok from an ebay shop but it's not quite right.

I must be doing something wrong in my searches.

cheers hotentot but that's not the right one.

I think this is the correct part number (for the dv7 4144ea) 605344 031

Can't seem to find one on ebay though.

The odd thing is, the replacement that I got would fit but it's not complete. The two pics below show what I mean.

The first pic is the original, note the 6 small black clips along the bottom. These clips are part of a 'cover' that goes over the keys and is pressed into the metal frame on the back of the keyboard.Attachment 23993

The 2nd image is the new keyboard notice it doesn't have the tabs and note all the holes where there should be the cover pressed in.Attachment 23994

got this sorted now. Decided the only way i was going to get this fixed was to 'peel' off the original cover and try to snap it back into place. Very tricky as the cover is quite brittle but finally got it done.
