    Info Metal Detecting forum?

Any chance of a metal detecting forum lads? me and the little one are going to start up soon with some kit and it would be nice to be able to have a section in df instead of anywhere else.

if anyone is into metal detecting or can offer advice it would be great

I've done a bit in the past. In fact my dad just bought a new detector in the summer. He knows a local farmer, me and my son went out with him yesterday, found an 1817 silver sixpence and a few pennies from 1840's.

How about a "Diary Section" where anyone can start up a thread about anything they want a keep a journal on it?

    Metal Detecting Adventures by Det
    Vegetable Growing Test by Mr_A
    Anal Rimmings by Leo
U IZ ALL CUNTZ lololololol by HELPERS

You get the idea - would cater for everyone and only 1 forum to add.

    yaaay, cmon chaps.
@consoles are the garrett ace 250's a good starter for me and my son?

i did buy one 3 years ago and me and a mate of mine (hacker360 on here) went digging at bridlington both on a beach and a local car boot spot. while it did find a lot of coins in the car boot area and a gold earing, i think the beach part was struggling. ive read somewhere about dual frequency? is this correct

Garret ace 250 is the best of the starter machines, I use 1 as a backup to my Goldmaxx power.
They can be used on the beach quiet well but you have to knock the sensitivity right down.
If you can stretch a little higher the goldmax adx 200 is a good semi pro machine grab them from ebay for about 200-250
all you need then is some land to detect on, depends on your area too there might be clubs which normally have digs at the weekends.

land should be np m8, just check on ebay and i cannot find any detectors on there with that name?

i know a few farmers around here so could get permissions very easily.

that vid was good but it would have been great with explosions, cgi and more action.

You would be surprised how many yanks have messaged me asking to sell the musket balls.
There are quiet a lot of open digs in Yorkshire if your wanting to find the really old silver coins roman etc.

Garret will find them you just need to get used to the detector, you may miss the deeper stuff but your average finds are only 3-6" which the garret is capable of finding.
You will though after using a pro machine find yourself looking for £400-600 for a good second hand machine.
If you get out and about enough in the right areas it will pay for itself 10 fold.
I've got well over 20k worth of coins if I was to sell them all, but prefer to pass them down to kids etc later.

id love to find coins like that, not for the monetary value (although its nice to get the jackpot now and again) i think i would be the same as you and collect them as i like coins and notes from all over the world so they would be saved and like you passed on
