Wii Wiikey Fusion or Wasabi DX?

    hi all
I'm looking for a some advice on the better of these please:

    http://www.wiikey.com/en/wiikey-fusion/

    http://www.wiidrivekey.co.uk/Wasabi-DX-Modchip/c7/p10/Genuine-Wasabi-DX-Modchip-Inc.-Free-Screwdriver-set/product_info.html

I have an original white wii and would like to play backups on it, don't want to risk it getting bricked so have bought a new wii to use for online play etc..
which one(if any) of those would be best?
    cheers

dont bother mate, just softmod it and use a hdd to store the ISOs. Although I do think that a mod chip + softmod is the best solution, I wouldn't go to the hassle (and cost) of a hardware mod now as you would still need to do some software hacks anyway.

I wouldn't worry about online play either, as far as I know Nintendo havnt blocked anyone who has used backups online.

    Thanks to {{909}}

messing about is unavoidable, sadly but softmodding is so popular its all been streamlined to idiot proof standards, so, you should be fine

Remember unless your wii is a few year old you wont be able to run games off dvd-r, but running off HDD is SO much better anyway.

    haha! like it!
my Wii is one of the very first so should be fine for dvd-r disks but I regularly update any new software on it if it asks to..
is the Renke_uk guide the one to follow to softmod or is there a newer way, might have a go at it this weekend if it idiot proof!!

I'm with 909 on the softmod+modchip combo being the best option, but a softmod on its own is fine with a harddrive...in fact its excellent.
I like the Modmii softmod installer, which asks you a few questions at the start, such as region etc, then goes away and generates all the files for you and produces a text document with tailor made instructions. It also takes care of setting up the hard drive...everything really.

    Thanks to tronads

That depends what you do wrong

Generally speaking it is fairly fool proof, despite it looking a tad scarey when you do it (screen look like dos).

Just be sure to read the how to a few times and you'll be fine.

With the app called mmm it installs all of the updates in one hit so minimal faffing.

Seriously dude, run with the wiihacks tutorial, there is ample support if something goes wrong as well as an irc chat room

looking at the wiihacks tutorial, modmii looks a hell of a lot simpler....maybe its because i'm familiar with it.

I did a full softmod with all the trimmings a while ago and it was a huge task doing all the steps but it was time consuming more than anything else. Looking at the newer guides it seems things have moved on a little since then. I think you'll be fine.

okay, gonna try this softmod routine.. one thing tho, after doing the letterbomb exploit do I format the sd card again and then add the modmii files to it to continue the hack?
