Anyone off to see Matt Cardle. He is doing the lights tonight
Thursday 10 November Victoria Gardens, The Headrow Entertainment from 6.45pm onwards.
The countdown to Christmas officially starts with the annual Leeds Lights Switch-On at Victoria Gardens. And X Factor winner Matt Cardle will be the star performer at this year's event.
The 28-year-old who won the ITV talent show last year will be performing his new single ‘Run for Your Life’. The song written by Take That star and X Factor judge Gary Barlow shot straight into the UK Singles Chart top five in its first week and is the first single from Matt’s debut album ‘Letters’ which was released on 17 October.

The evening's entertainment culminates with the big switch on of one of the UK's largest city centre festive illumination displays and a spectacular firework display illuminating the skies all across the city.

In order to facilitate this event, Cookridge street will be closed to traffic between the Headrow and Great George street all day on Thurs 10 November. The Headrow will also be closed to traffic between Albion Street and East Parade from 18:30 until approximately 21:15. Subsequently the following bus services will unfortunately be affected: 1, 19, 19A, 33, 33A, 42, 49, 50, 50A, 72, 95, 98, 99, 163, 166, 167, 168, 757, 760.
