Help Any experience with vax carpet cleaners?

Last week I picked up a Vax 6151 SX multifunction carpet cleaner... recently bought a new vacuum cleaner so not really interested in any of the things it does other than shampoo the carpet.

It's second hand, previous owner said she rarely used it - it does look almost brand new in the original box with the original manual and attachments.

First use, filled up and done my hall - no problem but towards the end it stopped pumping out water.. not changed since. I've cleaned out a few bits and bobs that I can see but it won't pump out water.

I'm assuming it has a water pump inside, is it often these can fail? Is there something else I can check or a dissassembly guide that I could reference to check the internals?

    Cheers.

    Does this help?

I don't know about the model you're using but I just had the same problem with a Karcher carpet cleaner. The problem was that the filter in the cleaning fluid tank was blocked.

I've got that already, seems more focused on the operation than maintenance/repair. I was thinking it may be something like that blocking it - just unexplored territory taking the thing apart.

Under the lid there's a tube that needs to be submerged in the cleaning solution for it to suck the cleaning solution up thro. As the level drops, the end of the tube sometimes sits too high to reach the cleaning solution.
When you put the lid on, make sure the tube is submerged and isn't trapped or fowled on anything.

I have a 1 from that range and find it works best when you use a spray bottle to apply the cleaning solution, use the smallest head on the Vax (for best suction) and only fill the Vax with plain water to rince out the cleaning solution.

Hey Mule, I have faced the same problem. A bit about me: been doing seattle carpet cleaning for about a year. I'm a newbie but I am learning!
