Virgin Free upgrade to Tivo?

I have noticed that Virgin are now offering free installation, activation etc for the 500gb Tivo here...

However, as this is "New customers only" has anyone managed to wangle a free upgrade by doing the usual, "fuck it, if you won't upgrade me for free, I will just leave and rejoin again" ?????????

A while ago they were offering a free box and free installation, just needing a £50 connection fee.

Just to confirm... I tried the other day and I can confirm you can now get a totally free Tivo box (500gb)

Phone Virgin sales.... press the "New customer" button (or else you will just get the useless philippines)

Have a brief conversation about free tivo, they will probably say no. Ask to be put to the retentions dept.

The retentions guy will also say no to free tivo. Point out that new customers get free Tivo... point out the web page.

Don't get angry, just enquirer how you go about cancelling your subscription and then starting your subscription again as a new customer with free tivo.

Suddenly you should get...

Free Tivo (500gb) - no cost, no installation, no activation
12 month only contract (as you are an existing customer)
£3 deduction per month of your Tivo fees discount for 24 months.

Result... however don't expect a Tivo for xmas. They are all Jan install dates now.
