Question Best setup for sound with new DVD player?

I've recently been using my Sky HD and PS3 connected straight to my Samsung 40" LCD via HDMI and decided I wanted a little better sound. So I found locally for sale a Samsung HT-D530 DVD player with 5.1 surround speakers and got that set up.

It has a Optical and Aux (Phono) inputs available... I've connected my Sky HD box already using the phono and when my optical cable comes in I'll connect that from the PS3.

Is this the best way to have it set up? This means the Wii isn't using the surround but it's rarely used... my TV has an Optical output - could I perhaps use that connected to the surround sound and allow the PS3/Sky HD/Wii to send it's signal that way?

I'm not sure? Would appreciate some advice... the system won't do DTS but even with Sky is sounding better than the TV speakers.

May be best using an optical switch if you only have 1 optical input for Sky and PS3.
Are you sure it has an optical input DVD kits usually have an optical out only, but I maybe wrong.

Yip - it's the D350 and not the D530, sorry.

I would use optical for all connections if possible.
Phono connection will only give a stereo output I believe. Have a look at lindy optical switches.

Find out what your Samsung can throughout to your amp. I have everything hdmi into my Samsung TV and optical out of that into my amp. It can pass through dolby digital 5.1 to the amp. I've set the ps3 up to only play 5.1 and not dts etc so I've no need for a switch etc. I think newer Samsung tvs can do dts as well. Mine is nearly 3 years old but is a 7000 series. I don't think the 6000 series could do pass through.
