Help advice on tracing a family tree..

    Hi guys.

My wife is tracing her family tree, and has hit a stumbling block.

She has always known her dad was adopted, but her grandma ( now deceased, always refused to sayanything about it).

Her dad is no longer in contact with my wife, but he has never wanted to know where he came from anyway.

As it is her dad that was adopted and not my wife, is there any way of her finding out details of the adoption - ie names etc of the adopting family?

She is currently using ancestry.co.uk, but i thought adoption stuff was kinda sealed information that no-one could get - even archiove stuff, from years ago..

Her dad i think is 65 now, so the adoption happened a long time ago.

Sorry I don't think you will be able to do it.

I've done a few of these none of which have been easy but in every case it is only the person who was adopted who is entitled to discover who their real parents were.
