Hugh Jackman maybe?
Hmmm tough one. I think Dominic West has to be up there in the top 5.
Ryan Gosling seems to be the man of the moment.. and yes, if I was gay

Quite a few excellent actors out there but the one springs to mind (perhaps because I have just finished watching Breaking Bad) is Bryan Cranston. Superb actor.
Ryan Gosling & Tom Hardy have been superb especially Ryan Gosling in Drive.

Id put leonardo di caprio in there too. always impressed with his movies
Gents
Tommy Lee Jones - Last few years he's turned out probably more stellar, note-perfect performances than anyone
Colin Firth - A King's Speech and even more so A Single Man were two of the best performances of the past few years
Philip Seymour Hoffman - Certainly some of the best work of the last decade
Kang Ho Song - Sympathy For Mr Vengeance, Memories of Murder, The Host, The Good the Bad and the Weird, Thirst and Secret Sunshine. Pwning the world.
Tom Hardy - Showing massive talent and range. Can do powerful intensity as well as anyone has for a long time
Ryan Gosling - One of the best performances I've ever seen in Half Nelson. Also excellent in The Believer, Drive and Blue Valentine. He's young and his range seems limited right now but he looks likely to get better and better. He's the new improved Edward Norton, seeing as Norton's talent and desire seems to have dropped off the face of the earth
Ladies
Michelle Williams - Perhaps with the exception of Tommy Lee Jones the best out there which is incredible considering how young she is. She acted Gosling off the screen in Blue Valentine in which she was fucking sublime. She was brilliant in Meek's Cutoff this year and Wendy and Lucy a couple of years ago
Kate Winslett - Never seen her put in a bad turn in anything. Ranges from competent to sublime in everything she does and elevates any film she is in

Christian Bale was good in the fighter
Tom Hardy looks very promising. He was alright in RocknRolla and even though Bronson was a crazy film he still played him very well. And i mean who isn't looking forward to him playing Bane in " The Dark Knight Rises" ?!?!
Also agree with GTI, Gosling is tearing it up at the moment. Anyone seen the pictures for "Gangster Squad yet?" Got an awesome cast....
