    Help itunes/iphone guru's some advice needed please:-/

    hi

i'm trying to upgrade my wifes iphone 4 to the latest ios but i'm having problems.

i used to have an iphone a couple of years back so had an account and purchased apps etc.

somehow i think my wife has synced her account ages ago and some of my apps have got on her phone (is this possible?) so there are apps on there from 2 different accounts

i'm signed in as my wife with the correct account in itunes, and trying to "transfer purchases" before updating to the latest firmware, but it keeps coming up to authorise the computer with my old email address pre filled in the box. so i delete that email and input hers and her password, it then tells me that 4 out of 5 including this pc are authorised. then tells me its already authorised. but when i go to transfer purchases again it comes up with the authorise pc login with my old email pre filled in again, so i'm trapped in a loop arghhh!!!

she's purchased a load of her own apps too so don't really want to lose them but don't mind writing them down to manually add later on.

basically i just want my account/apps removed from her phone and itunes tbh, just leaving her apps and account etc.

is there a way of me doing this?

thanks for your time and i hope it makes sense:-/

I'm not sure if transferring the purchases is necessary as purchases are tied to the itunes account so you should be able to download them again at a later date (don't quote me on that). You could setup a new library in iTunes and see if that removes your account and then just log in as her and hope it sticks. I have not come across the same problem so can't guarantee this will work, I insist anyone else in my house uses their own laptop or someone elses as I only like to have my devices synced to my PC

    Thanks to evilsatan

What I think is happening is you have apps that were purchased on your account on her phone, so when you click transfer purchases it wants you to authorise that computer with your account so it can transfer them on to the computer.

You could just authorise her computer with your account (you can authorise 5 computers), or delete the apps in question from her phone, or just leave them and update it.

You should just click update and it should update and everything will stay on the phone.

Also you can't loose apps, you would always be able to download them again even if you lost everything.

    Thanks to tagy

Didn't it give you the option to restore from backup? That would put everything back on for you.
