I have read that the Adobe Reader that you get for this tablet is next to useless. It flips pages really slowly, no goto page or bookmark features. Even the version on my phone has these features. Can anyone confirm this? Can a more up to date Adobe Reader be installed on it? Text Reflow (another option my phone has) is essential to me deciding to get one of these.
Just ordered the 32gb anyway as it's back in stock a £199 from Carphone Warehouse. If anyone has an answer to the PDF question in the meantime so I can prepare any downloads, hacks, etc to get the PDF functionality I need that would be greatly appreciated.
This Playbook woke me and the missus last night, it was on the bedside table and started flashing it's screen like a lighthouse when the battery was going.
Fucking thing.
Anyone know if there is something like oplayer for these ? Something that will play avi's with ac3 audio ? I've put vlc on but it seems that's only for streaming which is playing files direct (can't get vlc to see my pc either). Or would an app not solve this problem ? Thanks
anyone seen a decent im client ?
I want something for GTalk and msn messenger
edit... i see im+ on app world but im reluctant to pay for it again when i own it on both iOS and Android so if i post the apk can it be converted ?

This spreadsheet might be of some use to you all

I'm a little worried that I jumped the gun on this one. CPW suddenly had the 32Gb back in stock so I quickly ordered one before they run out again. But I'm now reading that the PB has problems playing all video/audio formats and that it's a bit restricted as an e-Reader. I also made the stupid (very stupid) assumption that this had a lot more apps for it than it does. I'm not really into having to hack devices and repackage apks to get them to work. I've already read that moboplayer doesn't work on the PB and nor does the last Adobe Reader with Text Reflow.
On the other hand, for £199 it's a great price. Is it worth me keeping this and hoping that it's short-comings (for my personal use) will be sorted out?
hey guys the spreadsheet is good for some apps, but a lot of dead links.
It was started by a few us early on when the beta and the keys where made available, but everyone started adding loads of files once they learned to sign them.
So there maybe a lot of conflicting info with what works and what doesnt.

hi mate the new os is due for release in feb 2012, this will allow you to use the android apps without having to hack anything.
As for an ereader running kindle on this is amazing ask about.
Your concerns about video files is justifiable, but if you stick to avi, divx and even mkv your fine just check the audio codec is mp3, the only one it wont play is AC3.
As with all tablets there are probs mate with video and audio and it is a gamble, hope i helped clear somethings up for you, personally i use mine as a portable media centre, loaded with music, movies and when im at work its hooked up to the tv via hdmi for full 1080p viewing...lol

typically all the avis i want to play are piggin ac3. i've no interest in converting them, my iphone 4 plays them great. sparkymf do u think this issue will be solved with an app? u seem to know a lot about this device :-)
I'm with you on that one. I have loads with AC3 and I'm not going to re-convert them.
Kindle app is nice. I've tried it but it doesn't offer Text Reflow on PDFs and that is absolutely essential for me to make do with a 7 inch screen. I'm thinking I should have taken the easy route and got a 10 incher.
If anyone is able to get hold of the latest Adobe Reader apk and tell me if it works on the PB then that would be great. I know I can try this out myself tomorrow when it is delivered but I'd rather send it back still sealed if I am going to return it to ensure no hassle getting a refund.
This seems more up to date

yes the days of converting shit should be well behind us, just checked about 20 avis i have , ALL ac3 :-(
