Best ADSL provider?

I set my Dad up with UKFSN because they didn't throttle, despite their relatively low data allowances. Now his village is running overcapacity, the internet is slow even though UKFSN don't throttle and there's nothing they can do about it. So, I figure I might as well change him to someone who gives better data allowance since he's using iplayer more. Current package is £18 10gb peak 40gb off peak. What ISP should he go with for £18-£25 with more data allowance than that? Thanks.

+1 for BEThere. Very fast and never been throttled or capped. They do have a FUP but I have never met anyone who has been slowed down by it.

use "sam knows" website to find out who has llu in your local exchange.

If sky have it, your get truly unlimited net, and if you take the phone package as well, its a very good deal. Plus you can get cash back from quidco.

I can only get adsl2+ (up to 8mb) but freeola doesn't give me a lower price to acknowledge that so can't go with them.

I've read verybad things about Be recently. It looks like I could move to them andworse service than I am getting now!

Constant disconnections despite BT confirming nothing is wrong with my line. Also despite me having no disconnection issues with prior ISPs.

After a couple of days things started going pear shaped at the exchange. This ended up as a disconnected service. BE's knee jerk response was to blame BT. A situation quickly descended into farce where I was expected to project manage the parties. With no resolution in sight I moved on.

I've been with Be since August 2010 and haven't had a single issue so far - at one point the speeds were fluctuating but it turned out to be leaking caps in my router at fault - replaced those and the line has never run at anything other than full line speed

For freeola I would have to pay for their 'up to 24mb' package but my line is only capable of up to 8mb. Having said that, they are still very good value after that so I might go with them.

The thing with Be is it looks like as long as everything works fine it works well but if things go wrong it looks like it's hard to fix :S.

Are plus net any good? I'm with ukfsn but Speeds seem to drop now weekends and evenings. Its very unstable. I'm thinking of moving to plus net. I may swap my router first just in case. I'm In a semi rural village so forget sky, be, fibre etc. it's bt max only. No LLU whatsoever.

I used to be with UKFSN and left. I think Plusnet might be run by BT?! So could have poor service but a better line of communication for getting stuff fixed. I've read a lot of reseller ISPs just say they can't fix things because BT refuse to do it.

+1 again for BE - had issues a few month ago when the router kept rebooting randomly (one of the old thomson speedtouch beboxes), talked to BE but although they offered to replace it with a new router I decided there wasn't any point because it didn't have any gigabit LAN ports and I'd just upgraded the rest of my home network to gigabit so I splashed out a few quid myself on a new Billion router and hooked it up - worked fine first time and still get decent speeds ~ 4-5 Mbps and I'm a very long way from the exchange - often struggled to get a stable 1Mbps connection before ADSL2 rolled out.

Yep, been with BE for over 3 years, never had any down time, and get 5-7mbs and im about 4 miles from my exchange.
