3ds sd slot not working

lad updated his 3ds before and now its getting a "sd card is not recognized" error.
anyone else had this problem and what they did to fix it?

Ive done the following:-

formatted to fat original 2gig sd card
formatted to fat32 as above
Tried a 16 gig card formatted to fat32

both work fine on the pc and in another device.

Seems you're not alone with this problem, there's a thread on the Nintendo forums with a number of people with the same complaint. No solution though. Mite be worth giving Nintendo a ring, they are usually pretty helpful.
