Shit "the hard disk file system is corrupted" :(

Getting the following message "the hard disk file system is corrupted" restore system files and restore database haven't worked for me.

I've got a reasonably full 600gb drive inside and don't really know what to do next?

I'd like the data off the HD but will Windows be able to move the data across, assuming it will be able to see the drives content.

    Any ideas folks?

Do not connect to a PC, the PS3 uses a custom file system and a PC corrupts it (I accidentally did this before). I am no expert but it sounds like you might have lost the data, hopefully someone more experienced will be able to tell you otherwise though

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do mate I had the same happen to me with a 640gb drive that it kept saying was corrupt the only thing you can do is to keep trying or to take it out format it and start all over again

Not sure that trying to read it in a pc will make any difference?

Unfortunately I think you are fucked, mine did the same a few years ago just had to reformat and start again

Thanks guys, can I read into your comments that restoring entirely might fix the drive?

At least I won't have to buy another one!

As said, you are screwed, not only does the PS3 store all your data on the HDD, but from the 40GB onwards Sony replaced the 256MB NAND setup with a 16MB NOR setup and the rest of the system software is stored on the HDD, not to mention each HDD is locked to each console. You also can't read it off from a PC. Your only option is to format, slap it back in and let the PS3 do it's thing.

Unforutnately you will have lost all game data/saves, etc that were on there for good.
