    Retro mame help required!

i'm gathering parts to build a mame cabinet - so i can play bubble bobble, commando, r-type, 1942, green beret etc, etc properly.

i have a Shuttle XPC SN95G5 (AMD Athlon 64 4000+) and would like to use it with some kind of front end package - the idea is that i can switch on the cabinet and no-one can see that its really a computer in a fancy box.

the problem is - i'm frigging clueless with computer command line programmes + scripts etc.

could some one that has the experience/knowledge (& lots of patience!) help me out here??!!

Have a look on here mate, there's a few of us with the same setup of mame cabs and a few mentions of front-ends you can use on here

If you're a windows user then stick to using windows on the PC, it works fine for mame and will make admin less of a nightmare than *nix for you if you're not comfortable with editing scripts

I run windows 7 x64 on mine with no problems (running MALA as a front-end), either XP or Win7 will be fine mate. I don't bother with the whole hiding windows thing on mine tbh, takes about 60 seconds to boot up into MALA so doesn't really bother me that I get the windows boot screen and a flash of explorer before it runs.
