I so fucking want one of these - am off USA end of March for a few weeks though so trying to hold out till then - pretty sure with price drops and exchange rate I should be able to get a good deal - hard not to just grab one now though
I'm pretty certain that at launch the XBOX was out-selling the xbox 360 and the PS2 was outselling the PS3 so not sure what your point is with that one? I can't see the vita out-selling the 3DS or even making a worldwide hit on console sales tbh, but that's not to say it's not a worthy successor to the PSP, all you need to do is play unchartered to see that

All I meant that in Japan, Sony's home territory, after 1 week of sales Edge reported that the PSP was outselling the Vita, seems a little quick to me. Demand should be high enough shouldn't it?

Thats due to a variety of reasons:
- The Vita's initial high console price and memory card price.
- The Japanese customers saw what happened to the 3DS less than 6 months after its launch.
- The Vita launch line-up is catered more to US/EU tastes. Once key Japanese titles come out sales will definitely pick up.
- The PSP is doing really well in Japan due to its low price point and key games such as Monster Hunter and Final Fantasy Type 0.
- The 3DS has also started to do great also due to key games such as Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Monster Hunter Tri G
and Resident Evil Revelations.
- A big part of Vita's initial shipment was 3G locked units (NTT DoCoMo) that required pre pay cards.
