iphone 3gs unlock question

Just acquired an iphone 3gs locked to orange. The original owner has upgraded and applied for the unlock for my handset. How will the unlock work? A bit of searching tells me it will be through itunes but will it have to be on his computer or can I install itunes on my pc and sort it from there?

Once it's been unlocked Orange should send the guy who's phone it was an email or a text to say its now ready to be connected to iTunes, you can plug it into any computer it doesn't have to be the original one it can be any.

It can take around a week though!
