editable table

hi peeps not sure best place to post this so i plumped for here, feel free to move it if its better elsewhere.

im trying to make an editable table that has different size cells along the row and down the column, is there anything around that will help me do this? i did try excel but if i draw a cell say an inch by an inch and then draw another one next to it say half an inch by and inch it will automatically copy the height of the precedding cell, this wont work for me.

any suggestions please guys??

You could do it in excel by combining some cells?

how though, the cells i create automatically resize so that wouldnt work would it?

In excel you can merge more than one cell together so a cell in one column can be for example the same height as three cells in the next column.

hmmmm ill have a play, cheers. cant believe there isnt a quick and simple way to do this though!
