    PS3 PS3 not reading any blu-ray

First my ps3 gets very little use it's a new slim but think is over year old got a copy of uncharted 3 cheap from amazon and it will not read any bluray game or movie

The only thing that's changed it it got me to update to 4.0 before I tried the game read a bit online about few other people having same issue but not enough to make it a "gate"

Also it's still plays DVD/cd's and have done a disk clean and reset by going to system menu by holding down power button till it turns off and back on??

So you bright sparks any ideas?

Its a known problem that sony doesnt seem to admit is a problem. Might be worth arguing with sony to try and get a free repair out of them.

Sounds like new laser time to me mate in all honesty, especially if you have formatted & done system restores via the recovery menu already.

Yep sounds like a new laser is needed, and given that CD/DVDs still work I assume you will have the 2 lens laser and only the Bluray one has gone.

Always worth using the Recovery Menu first though just to see if it works and maybe save yourself a few quid.

I've just had to replace my laser a couple of days ago. Everything worked fine but Battlefield 3. It just kept saying dirty disc bolloxs but was easy to change. I ordered my laser from a link posted by Herman.
