Tennis elbow

Does anyone know if it's safe to cycle with tennis elbow? I got it in my right arm just before Christmas, so took a couiple of week off from exercise over Christmas. It got better but there was still a slight twinge every now and again. Last Monday I started back at karate, but that was quite an easy workout. No impact or anything, just focussing on kata really.
On Thursday we did a full on session on the pads and the following morning both arms were in absolute agony.
Went to the local drop in centre at the local hospital, and they say I have tennis elbow in both arms. So no training for at least two to four weeks, ice, and ibuprofen.
I really want to get out and doing something to try and shift some of the weight I put on over Christmas, would I be OK on the bike do you think?
I'd only be going on road, I don't want to run as it hurts my knees.

Without any medical background whatsoever... I would have thought it would be OK. Off road might be a no-no, but road cycling doesn't put too much strain on your elbow joints. Not sure about your long-term prospects for karate though! Have you been put on the 15 year waiting list for Physio?
